Answer
The War had been going on for about a year. In 1861, the Yankees tried to go straight from Washington to Richmond, Virginia (the Confederate Capital), but lost the First Battle of Manassas (Bull Run). Many Civil War Battles have two names, because the Confederates named them after the nearest town, and the Yankees usually called them after the closest body of water (they named their armies after rivers too).

In 1862 the Yankees decided to try something different. They went by ship to the tip of "The Peninsula" between the York River and the James River in the Chesapeake Bay in eastern Virginia. This put them a little bit closer to Richmond and in position to approach it from the east. The General commanding the Confederates, Joseph E, Johnston, retreated to the very outskirts of Richmond before finally fighting a big battle (Fair Oaks, or Seven Pines), during which he was badly wounded. Confederate President Jefferson Davis then put Robert E. Lee in command of the Army. This was June 1, 1862. Late that month he began the series of battles called the Seven Days, during which he drove the Yankees from the gates of Richmond.

The major battles were

1) Mechanicsville (Beaverdam Creek) June 26
2) Gaine's Mill June 27
3) Savage's Station June 29
4) Glendale (Frayser's Farm) June 30
5) White Oak Swamp June 30
6) Malvern Hill July 1

Many Confederates shared Lee's opinion that a great opportunity was lost on June 28 to completely destroy the Union Army. Lee's plans for that day were maybe a bit ambitious for his troops, many of whom had been in no battles before, and the complicated scheme was perhaps more than his staff could see to having implemented, as they were all new as well.

The first of the Seven Days was June 25, and there was a minor battle at Oak Grove (King's Schoolhouse).

How is it possible that 3 Republican canidates for president do not belive in evolution?

Sure, the 3 are not any of the frontrunners, and sure there are quite a few idiots out there that believe that the world was created in seven days, but these are our nation's leaders! They are expected to exhibit a certain level of intelligence! Even the Pope himself has supported the notion of evolution. This is just sad.

Answer
Scary isn't it? It's a frightening thought to think that anyone so intellectually stunted could be elected to the office of President.

Sometimes I think the scientific community should run a series of public announcements that try, in the simplest terms, to explain the difference between our common use of the word "theory" and the scientific "theory." You never fail to see those, like some who answered your question, that tell you it's a THEORY, like they're saying something. They have no clue what that means in the scientific world.

Can I make Excel add a line in a chart based on the value of a cell?

NB

Obsessive data freak that I am, I keep a table of my daily weight, along with a seven day running average. Laugh all you want, but I lost 20 lbs this year keeping such close track. Here's my question: One cell in my worksheet averages all of my weights for the year. I have inserted a line in my chart at that average weight, but since it moves I have to keep moving it (down, thank goodness). Is there anyway to tell excel to insert a line keyed to value of the cell which has the average forumla? So that it will be placed accurately on the chart, and also move (down!) as my average weight for the year moves (down!). Thanks!

PS If it can't do that, do you know how to set the line characteristics so that I can nudge it down without it jumping to the next "notch", or however you would describe that? Thanks.
Thanks Frank -- a little clarification: I have the line graph that shows my daily and seven-day average weights for the past two years, that's no problem, and I have the cell in my worksheet that calculates the average for the entire year. What I want to do is add a straight line in the chart that shows the average weight for the year as calculated in the worksheet cell. Thanks, N.

Answer
Yes, you can add a line to automatically show the latest average:

1) add a column next to your daily weights, called "yearly average"
- the formula in every cell of this column is the same:
=AVERAGE(B$2:B$366)
where B2:B366 are the daily weights.

2) select the data with this yearly average data, and add it as a series in your chart.

Whenever you add a daily weight, the column with the average will automatically update, and so will the horizontal line in the chart.

I hope this helps -- add detail, or e-mail if you need more info.
